I have been practicing matrimonial law in Suffolk County, Long Island, for over twenty years. During that time, I have provided advice and legal support to gay and lesbian couples as well as to their heterosexual counterparts. Over the decades, the laws affecting same-sex relationships have been in a constant state of flux, and the currrent legal situation is a complex patchwork of local, state and inter-state regulations. In the absence of clear and uniform laws, I have felt strongly that gay and lesbian partners deserve the highest level of effort, education and experience from their attorneys, with help specifically tailored to their needs.
In 2003, I was fortunate enough to be joined by Regina T. Cline, Esq., and together we decided to open the first and only law firm on Long Island with a division specifically dedicated to the problems facing non-traditional families: Domestic Partnerships, New York. We believe that we can offer our clients a staff that has the unique training and experience that our clients require. In order to provide a full spectrum of resources to the couples who consult us, Regina T. Cline, a skilled attorney with a Masters in Psychology, is trained in mediation. We are also fortunate to have, of counsel, Penny Kassel, Esq., one of the most well-respected and well-known estate attorneys in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, providing expertise with regard to inheritance and asset protection issues.
Every client and case is important to our firm. We give you our commitment to provide superior legal solutions to all of our clients. We also ensure that your legal problem is solved in the most cost effective manner, through litigation or alternative dispute resolution.
Regina T. Cline:
I bring to my law practice extensive education and experience in the areas of psychology, counseling and conflict resolution. Utilizing my skills in these areas, my goal is to provide comprehensive legal representation balanced with a recognition of the uniqueness and individual needs of each client.
This approach is essential in assisting same-sex couples as they sort through the complexities of the legal ramifications of their personal relationships. Without clearly defined laws to guide these relationships, both in their formation and dissolution, I try to clarify all of the relevant factors in a personalized way, in order to develope a legal strategy that meets the specific requirements of my clients.
I am also committed to ensuring that legal representation is available to everyone in need. Towards that end, I am a volunteer attorney with the Suffolk County Pro Bono Project.
